Loudoun County is the northernmost county in Virginia. It is located 35 miles northwest of Washington, DC, and is bordered by both West Virginia and Maryland. The Blue Ridge Mountains and Shenandoah River are to the west of Loudoun and the Potomac River is to the north. The county has over 240,000 residents in its 517 square miles of land, and it is the second fastest growing county in the country. While Western Loudoun County has retained its historic rural charm with small, picturesque towns and villages and beautiful scenery; Eastern Loudoun County has an established reputation as an international center for technology, communications, and transportation.
